Concrete Floor Shot Blasting Contractors
Mechanical preparation of commercial and industrial concrete floors before resin coatings. Working across the North West, with larger UK projects considered individually.
Concrete preparation for commercial flooring projects
Commercial Coatings NW provides floor shot blasting as part of industrial floor refurbishment and preparation packages. Abrasive impact removes suitable weak surface material and creates a mechanical profile where the slab condition and coating specification allow.
For a preparation-only enquiry, share the required surface condition, floor area and flooring specification. We can review the package and discuss the handover requirements with your contractor or installer.
Where floor shot blasting may be suitable
- Accessible warehouse, factory and industrial unit floors.
- Removal of suitable surface laitance ahead of specified resin systems.
- Concrete requiring a mechanical profile before a coating or flooring build-up.
- Refurbishment projects combining preparation, local repairs and a new finish.
Shot blasting does not automatically resolve oil contamination, slab defects, moisture or heavy coating removal. Edges and inaccessible areas may require grinding or another complementary method.
Equipment, access and the working environment
Before specifying the preparation, we review access for the blasting equipment, dust collection, available power, slab condition and the operational layout. Adjacent work, waste handling and the sequence of repairs and coating also affect the programme.
Coverage and project enquiries
We handle enquiries across Liverpool, Wirral, Chester, Cheshire, Manchester, North Wales and the wider North West. Larger UK projects are assessed individually. Include the site postcode, approximate area, photographs and required completion date.

Preparation is selected to suit the substrate and coating specification, not as a one-size-fits-all process.
Share your site location, approximate area (m²), intended use and programme. We can review the requirements and discuss a suitable approach.

What affects the cost of floor shot blasting?
Floor area, slab condition, existing materials, access, edge preparation and the required surface profile all affect pricing. A clear scope and site photographs help us assess the work before quoting.
Is shot blasting suitable for every concrete floor?
No. The slab strength, contamination, existing coatings and specified flooring system determine suitability. Grinding, repairs or another preparation process may be needed instead or alongside blasting.
Can the new resin coating be applied immediately?
The prepared floor must first meet the coating manufacturer’s requirements. Repairs, cleaning, moisture checks and any specified primer or moisture-control system may still be required.
Can I enquire about a preparation-only contract?
Yes. Send the area, specification, programme and required handover condition. We will discuss the scope and confirm suitability and availability before agreeing the work.

What should a shot-blasting package include?
Agree the required surface profile and the flooring system to follow before pricing. Identify edge grinding, inaccessible areas, joint work, repairs and waste removal separately. This helps a main contractor compare preparation quotations against the same handover requirements.
On an occupied site, discuss equipment routes, dust extraction, work-zone separation and access for other trades. Completion of blasting is a preparation milestone; return to pedestrian or forklift use after coating depends on the selected system and actual curing conditions. Read our warehouse floor refurbishment guide when planning the full programme.
How much does concrete floor shot blasting cost?
£4–£10 per m²Published UK guide for concrete floor shot blasting. Larger accessible open areas generally spread mobilisation costs over more square metres.
What may change the price? The required profile, slab condition, existing coatings, edges, access and power affect the scope. Repairs and subsequent coatings are separate. Small areas may attract a minimum job charge.

Planning your project: four useful questions
What affects the cost of floor shot blasting?
Floor area, existing condition, specification, access and programme affect pricing. See the budget guide on this page for the indicative range and exclusions. The written quotation confirms scope and applicable VAT.
What preparation does the floor need?
The required surface profile, slab strength, existing coating and access determine suitability. Edge grinding or another complementary method may be needed.
How long before the area can be used again?
Preparation, application and any curing are separate stages. The chosen products, temperature, thickness and intended traffic determine the programme. Preparation-only work is handed over to the agreed surface specification.
Is this service suitable for my premises?
Shot blasting can suit accessible concrete areas requiring a profile before the next flooring system; it is not appropriate for every slab or coating.
