Concrete Diamond Grinding Contractors
Mechanical concrete floor preparation for workshops, factories and warehouses across the North West. Send your floor photographs, area and site location so we can assess the preparation your project needs.
Prepare the concrete for the next flooring system
Commercial Coatings NW carries out diamond grinding as part of commercial and industrial floor preparation. Grinding can remove suitable existing coatings, weak surface material and limited high spots, depending on the condition of the concrete and the proposed finish.
For contractors planning a preparation-only package, send the specification and required handover condition with your enquiry. We can discuss the scope, access and programme before confirming a quotation.
Where diamond grinding may be suitable
- Workshop and garage concrete before a specified resin coating.
- Industrial floors with suitable coating residues or surface laitance.
- Localised surface irregularities and detailed preparation around working areas.
- Preparation ahead of an agreed repair, moisture-control or levelling system.
Grinding is not a structural repair or a guarantee that a slab is ready for coating. Moisture, contamination, cracks and the required surface profile still need assessment.
Equipment and site planning
The tooling and grinding method depend on the concrete hardness, coating thickness and required profile. Before work, we review machine access, power, dust extraction, edges, adjoining operations and waste handling. This determines the practical preparation sequence and any complementary methods needed.
North West coverage
Enquiries are welcome from Liverpool, Wirral, Chester, Cheshire, Manchester and North Wales. Larger projects elsewhere in the UK are considered individually.

How much does concrete diamond grinding cost?
The price depends on floor area, existing coatings, substrate condition, access, edge work and the required finish. Send the approximate area in square metres, photographs, postcode and programme for a project-specific quotation.
Will grinding remove every existing floor coating?
No. Removal depends on the coating type, thickness, bond and concrete condition. We assess the surface before selecting tooling or proposing another preparation method.
Should the floor be ground or shot blasted?
The substrate and flooring specification determine the method. Grinding can suit coating removal and detailed work; shot blasting can suit profiling accessible concrete areas. Some projects require both.
Can I enquire about preparation without resin installation?
Yes. Describe the preparation-only scope, the flooring system to follow and who will accept the prepared substrate. Availability and the agreed handover requirements are confirmed with the quotation.

Grinding an oil-contaminated workshop floor
Grinding alone does not establish that oil-contaminated concrete is suitable for coating. Tell us about historic leaks, cleaning products and previous coating failures. Contamination may require further treatment, trial areas or removal of affected material before a flooring system can be specified. An oil-tolerant primer may be considered only where the substrate and selected manufacturer's requirements allow.
For preparation-only work, agree the required surface profile, edge treatment and acceptance checks with the installer applying the next system. See the 2,500 m² industrial flooring project for an existing example of grinding within a wider refurbishment package.
How much does concrete diamond grinding cost?
£5–£15 per m²Published UK budgeting guide for floor grinding or scarifying; the actual method and tooling are selected for your substrate.
What may change the price? Coating or adhesive removal, extensive edge work, high-spot reduction, concrete hardness and access affect the cost. Repairs and subsequent flooring are separate. Small areas may attract a minimum job charge.
These figures are for initial budgeting. Your written quotation will confirm the agreed scope, inclusions, exclusions and applicable VAT. VAT treatment varies between published guides.

Planning your project: four useful questions
What affects the cost of concrete diamond grinding?
Floor area, existing condition, specification, access and programme affect pricing. See the budget guide on this page for the indicative range and exclusions. The written quotation confirms scope and applicable VAT.
What preparation does the floor need?
Concrete hardness, coating type, edges, power and the next finish determine the tooling and preparation scope. Repairs and contamination treatment are considered separately.
How long before the area can be used again?
Preparation, application and any curing are separate stages. The chosen products, temperature, thickness and intended traffic determine the programme. Preparation-only work is handed over to the agreed surface specification.
Is this service suitable for my premises?
Grinding can suit coating removal and detailed concrete preparation, subject to the existing floor and the next system’s requirements.
See our workshop grinding and resin flooring project for a real example. Your floor still needs its own assessment.
